Plot

In this insightful documentary, elderly Brazilian citizens offer their response to the steamy erotic poetry of Carlos Drummond de Andrade (he died in 1987). The poems were written a few years before the poet died and due to their racy content, were never meant for publication. In the style of her previous documentary, Metal and Melancholy (1993), filmmaker Heddy Honigmann randomly interviews her subjects on the street by asking them to read one of the poem's on camera and respond to it. Many of those interviewed are moved by the versus to begin sharing intimate moments from their own pasts. Also included are recordings of de Andrade reading his own work and interviews with a couple of his acquaintances. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
