O Arhontas Tou Kampou

Plot

This mean-spirited Greek pastoral from director Manolis Vlachakis (who also appears in the film) was based on the Yiannis Sfakianakis novel The Lord of Vaflerna and tells the story of an evil, mendacious land baron (Iordanis Marinos) who forces a poor local girl (Rika Dialina) to marry him. The usual confrontations and nastiness follow, but the reluctant bride soon finds herself attracted to her brutish husband's charming son (Kostas Kourtis) and starts an affair with him. When his father dies, the hero inherits all the money and lives happily ever after with his stepmother, who eventually becomes his wife.
