O. I. Corporation can tell exactly what's in your air, food, and water. The company, which does business as OI Analytical, makes instruments that analyze, detect, measure, monitor, and prepare chemical compounds. Its products include instruments that separate organic compounds based on their physical and chemical properties, analyzers for measuring acidic levels in water, emissions equipment for testing air quality, and sample preparation equipment. OI also configures custom gas chromatography systems using instruments purchased from Agilent, among others. Customers have included federal, state, and municipal governments (about one-fifth of sales). The company was acquired by ITT for about $29 million in late 2010.
