Review

Victor Wulf records as Dilate. Octagon is a double CD -- almost two and a half hours of ambient bliss. This is not "new" ambient or techno or trip-hop or rhythmic ambient. This is deep sonic environmental minimalism. It is ambience as intended by Brian Eno. Wulf's atmospheres are full of textures and sonic clouds. There is an aura of mystery as these dense clouds surround listeners. Then it's time for disc two. The organic timbres cover the soundscape with gentle synth washes. There are no flaws or gaps in this set; Wulf has covered it all. This CD will appeal to fans of Jeff Pearce, Zero Ohms, Brannan Lane, and John Foxx. ~ Jim Brenholts, Rovi
