Name of several medieval musicians whose identities have been confused. A tonary and treatise of the late 10th century attributed to ‘Abbot Odo’ may be by an Abbot Odo of Arezzo rather than Abbot Odo of Cluny (b 878/9), composer of hymns and antiphons. A Dialogus on music attributed to Odo of Cluny is probably from north Italy, of unknown authorship. Another tonary, probably Franciscan, has also been wrongly attributed to ‘Abbot Odo’; a simple Cluny monk named Odo has been confused with the Abbot.
