Odoardo II Farnese
Odoardo II Farnese (Colorno near Parma, August 12 1666 - September 6 1693) was the son and heir of Duke Ranuccio II of Parma and Piacenza. His mother was Isabella d´Este (1635-1666), second wife of Ranuccio, who died in childbirth on August 21 1666, after giving birth to him.
Odoardo Farnese married Dorothea Sophie of Neuburg on May 17 1690. She was the daughter of the well-connected Philipp Wilhelm, Elector Palatine.
In their three years of marriage, they had two children :
- Alessandro Ignazio (December 6, 1691 - August 5, 1693),
- Elisabeth of Parma (October 25, 1692 - July 11, 1766), who married in 1714 King Philip V of Spain.
Odoardo died before his father and therefore never ruled. His widow Dorothea Sophie of Neuburg remarried on December 8, 1695 Odoardo's half-brother Francesco Farnese, who became Duke when his father died in 1694.
