TV Series:

Office Gossip

  • Director: Christine Gernon
  • Release Year: 2001

Plot

As suggested by its title, this British sitcom detailed the various intrigues occuring within the walls of a typical office. In this case, the setting was a toy company, where Jo (Pauline Quirke) worked as the private secretary for hardworking but obtuse CEO Rod (Robert Daws). Because Jo had risen so high so fast, her co-workers assume that she had been sleeping with Rod, though in fact he was so sexually clueless that he didn't even notice when his wife walked out on him. The Jo/Rod situation offered amusing contrast to the relationship between Jo's fellow employee, Simon (Neil Stuke), and office manager, Maxine (Pippa Haywood), whose "secret" romance was a well-known fact to virtually the entire United Kingdom, thanks to resident gossip Cheryl Potts (Daniela Denby-Ashe). Lasting six half-hour episodes, Office Gossip aired over BBC1 from February 2 to March 9, 2001. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
