The Office of Public Health and Science wants to keep Americans healthy. The agency is dedicated to providing information and services to promote the health of individuals of all ages. The Office of Public Health and Science consists of a variety of organizations, including the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, the Office of the Surgeon General, the Office on Women's Health, and the National Vaccine Program Office. The agency also includes the Office of Minority Health and the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. The Office of Public Health and Science is part of the US Department of Health and Human Services.

The Office of Public Health and Science (OPHS) is an operating agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services and the managing personnel body for the United States Public Health Service. The office is under the direction of the Assistant Secretary for Health, who serves as the senior uniformed advisor on public health and science issues to the Department Secretary. The Office serves as the focal point for leadership and coordination across the Department in public health and science, provides direction to program offices within OPHS, and provides advice and counsel on public health and science issues to the Secretary.
