Old Russian language

The outdated term Old Russian language normally refers to the Old East Slavic language that was spoken in Novgorod Rus, Kievan Rus', and their successor states from the 9th to 14th centuries. It was the ancestor of all four East Slavic languages: Belarusian, Russian, Rusyn, and Ukrainian.
