Aaliyah's second album doesn't necessarily prove that she is indeed One in a Million, but it does showcase more depth and talent than her acclaimed debut. That's not only due to the greater variety of material on One in a Million, or to the way that her producers (Vincent Herbert, Jermaine Dupri, and many others) immaculately produce each track, but it is also due to the fact that Aaliyah's singing is smoother, more seductive, and stronger than before. It might not be the commercial juggernaut of Age Ain't Nothin' but a Number, but One in a Million is a more consistently satisfying album. ~ Leo Stanley, All Music Guide

One in a Million is the second studio album by American R&B singer Aaliyah, released by Blackground Records on August 27, 1996 (see 1996 in music) Selling over two million copies in the United States[2] within a few months, the album was notable for being Aaliyah's breakout album and a major milestone in the careers of songwriter/producer Missy Elliott and Tim "Timbaland" Mosley. Elliott and Mosley wrote and produced the bulk of the album. Other producers included Rodney Jerkins, Jermaine Dupri, and Kay Gee. The album was executive produced by Barry Hankerson and Jomo Hankerson. It features all of the smash hit singles, "If Your Girl Only Knew", "One In A Million", "Got To Give It Up", "4 Page Letter", "Hot Like Fire", and "The One I Gave My Heart To". As of October 2009, this album is currently 2x Platinum. The album is currently out of print in the Unites States, however, copies of the 2004 reissue (which was released in Germany), can possibly be found in some stores as an import, or can easily be imported upon request. This album sold over 11 million records.
In 2004 the album was re-released in Germany with altered artwork. The disc is copy-protected, and therefore will not show up when placed in a PC, but it will show up when inserted into a Mac, and it will play in most CD players. It included the standard 17 tracks, plus the following bonus track.
