Ono

A town built by families of the tribe of Benjamin in the vicinity of Lod (I Chr 8:12). A site of that name is mentioned in the lists of Thutmosis III, but it is never again referred to in Egyptian or Assyrian sources, nor does it appear in the early books of the Bible. Ono was inhabited after the return from Babylonian Exile (Ezra 2:33; Neh 7:37) by the Benjamites (Neh 11:35). In the late Roman period it was the capital of a district. The site is identified with Kefr Ana, 6 miles (10 km) northeast of Lydda.
