Operation HOP TAC

A U.S.-South Vietnamese operation launched in the summer of 1964 to pacify the six heavily-populated provinces surrounding the South Vietnamese capital of Saigon. In Vietnamese, hop tac means 'cooperation, ' but the operation failed due to a lack of cooperation among the many South Vietnamese and U. S. military and civilian agencies involved.
