Optek Technology makes infrared, magnetic, and fiber-optic sensors that detect motion, position, and ultraviolet and infrared light, among other things. Manufacturers use its sensors in office and industrial equipment, cars, medical devices, and point-of-sale equipment. The company also makes fiber-optic network transmitters and receivers for telecom networks. It provides such services as wafer fabrication, mold tooling, plastic manufacturing, final testing, and assembly. Optek sells worldwide through an extensive network of distributors and resellers. UK-based TT electronics bought Optek from Dyson-Kissner-Moran in 2003. The company was founded in 1979 as Crown Semiconductor and changed its name to Optek in 1984.
