Oracle Internet File System

Top

A file sharing system from Oracle that is based on the Oracle database management system (DBMS). It is designed to consolidate all the file servers in the enterprise and allows files to be accessed from a Web browser or Network Neighborhood.

In 2003, the Oracle9i Internet File System (9iFS) was deployed in two packages. First, IFS was renamed the Oracle Content Management SDK, which includes the Java APIs for developing document and content management systems. Second Oracle Files Online, an internal Oracle application based on IFS, was renamed Oracle Files. See Oracle Content Management SDK and Oracle Files.
