Review

Oreade Music, the true "go for it" new age label, assembles a slew of tracks from its catalog to create what should have been titled "Atmospheres for Healing." It's not that what's here is simply sound effects, far from it; in fact, Oreade Music: Healing Music is one the best musical collections they've assembled, but it's more than a mix. Each cut stands as its own sonic atmosphere, a place in time and space not so much separate from our present reality as some kind of extension of it, in both history and development. This music as a whole can be used to facilitate all kinds of healing, from bodywork to meditation to soundtracks for lucid dreaming. It holds together well, but some cuts, such as Guna Sangah's "Ascent of the Spirit" and Aeoliah's "Angels of Victory" are utterly complete on their own and can be replayed literally dozens of times for sound worlds that demand cyclical renewal. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi
