Original Order

Marketing Dictionary: original order

First order received from a particular customer. It is important to track the sources of original orders so that efforts to create new first time buyers can be concentrated on the best sources. For example, if more original orders for a particular product per promotion dollar spent come from direct mail than from other sources and if direct-mail orders have a good pay-up history, then future promotional budgets should be allocated primarily to direct mail.
