Orthodox Christianity in Turkmenistan is a major proportion of Christianity in Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan has a Muslim majority. The Orthodox are about 5 % of the population. [1] There are Armenians in Turkmenistan.
The Russian Orthodox Church is under the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Archbishop in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. [2] There are three Russian Orthodox Churches in Ashgabat, two in Turkmenabat, in Mary, Turkmenbashi, Balkanabat, Bayram-Ali and Dushauguze one each. [1] The highest Russian Orthodox priest in Turkmenistan is based in Ashgabat. [3] There is one Russian orthodox monastery, in Ashgabat. [3] Turkmenistan has no Russian Orthodox seminary, however. [3]
