Oschophoria, at Athens, the festival of the vintage, celebrated in October, which had as its central ceremony the carrying of vine-branches with clusters of grapes from a sanctuary of Dionysus in Athens to the shrine of Athena Skiras at Phalerum, by two young men dressed in female robes. They were followed by a choir singing special hymns. The festival was popularly associated with the myths of Theseus.
