Biography

Oslo's kaleidoscopic space rock sound is created by Gabrial McNair (guitar), Mattia Borrani (vocals/guitar), and Kerry Wayne James (bass). McNair, who spent ten years touring and recording with No Doubt, formed the Los Angeles threesome in the early 2000s. Their self-titled debut album was issued on FKE in March 2005. Springtime shows with Psychedelic Furs frontman Richard Butler followed in 2006. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

They released their second album, The Rise and Fall of Love and Hate, in November 2007.

History

The history of Oslo began back in 1993, when Gabrial McNair met bassist Kerry James backstage at a gig in San Francisco. Later, Kerry would meet songwriter and vocalist Mattia Borrani, through a mutual friend. All three would continue their individual endeavors until they, in 2001, would re-connect in Los Angeles, and began writing together. Though the creative core of Oslo was formed in 2001, the band would wait until 2003 before they played their first concert, due to McNair touring during 2001-02. In 2003 the trio beefed up their onstage set as a quintet with keyboardist Damon Ramirez and drummer Charlie Walker, both of whom play on the self-titled debut and “The Rise and Fall of Love and Hate.”
