Review
The Velvet Teen have a sweeping, soaring sound that's striking in its simplicity and originality. Judah Nagler's vocals rise and rise until they reach Brian Wilson territory. The album is versatile and shifts easily from indie pop to indie rock, from slow and melancholy to driving and upbeat. There's copious keyboards and a solid guitar foundation with creative basslines that don't compete with the mood but supplement it. This features a stellar production job by Death Cab for Cutie's Christopher Walla. ~ Ron DePasquale, Rovi| Out of the Fertile Crescent (2001 Album by Ballydowse) | |
