Biography

Metalcore pioneers Overcast formed in 1991 in Boston, MA, around the talents of bass player Mike D'Antonio, guitarists Pete Cortese and Scott McCooe, vocalist Brian Fair, and drummer Jay Fitzgerald. The band released its debut 7", Bleed into One, in 1992 on Exchange Records, followed by the full-length Expectational Dilution in 1994. Three more 7" releases arrived in 1995 and 1996, culminating in the Fight Ambition to Kill full-length the following year. In 1998, after a less than successful tour, the group quietly disbanded, splintering off to become cogs in numerous different bands, including Shadows Fall (Fair), Killswitch Engage (D'Antonio), Seemless (Cortese), Transient (McCooe), and Tunnel Drill (Fitzgerald). The band reunited in 2008 for the Metal Blade release Reborn to Kill Again, a collection of re-recordings of band and fan favorites, as well as two brand new tracks. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide

Reformation

In 2006, the following was posted on their MySpace page and website regarding their reformation:

"...Overcast will be re-recording 10-14 classic tracks and 2 unreleased songs for a full length album entitled "Reborn To Kill Again", in May 2006. Adam Dutkiewicz has signed on as producer of this endeavor and we could not be happier. As far as a label - talks are still currently in negotiation (more as it comes). "

It was recently announced that "Reborn To Kill Again" will be released on August 19, 2008 through Metal Blade Records.

In June 2009, the group went on a second hiatus. This was because Mike D'antonio and Brian Fair wanted to get back to there main priority, Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall.
