An overfrock coat is cut the same as a frock coat except that it is cut a little larger to permit it to be worn over the frock coat. It was commonly made with a velvet collar. The material used is a heavy winter weighted wool.
A top-frock coat differs from the overfrock coat in that it is made of a lighter material.
