Owen Brown (1771–1856) was a founder and trustee of two Ohio colleges Oberlin College and Western Reserve College. He served as trustee of Oberlin College, from 1835 to 1844. He was also the founder of the abolitionist Oberlin Church (“Free Church”). In 1833 he helped to found the Western Reserve Anti-Slavery Society. He lived in Hudson, Ohio and is very well known there. He has a street, Owen Brown St., named after him. He was the father of John Brown. He died on May 8, 1856
