Oxford Circus is the area of London at the busy intersection of Regent Street and Oxford Street, in the City of Westminster. It is served by Oxford Circus tube station, which is directly beneath the junction itself.

The area is constructed in the beginning of the 19th century, designed by John Nash.

Diagonal Crossing

Westminster City Council has commenced a £4m pedestrianisation scheme for the area, allowing shoppers to cross the intersection diagonally, much like Tokyo's Shibuya crossing[1]. Work started in summer 2009 and will take nine months to complete.
