Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura, CA is the metropolitan designation given to the Ventura County Area by the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The OMB bases its names for metropolitan areas on their dominant cities, but locals generally refer to the area simply as "Ventura County". The metro area comprises 2 key population centers: the Oxnard Plain and the Conejo/Simi Valleys. It also contains the rural regions of the Santa Clara River Valley and the Ojai Valley as well as some cities outside of Ventura County, and is home to roughly 800,000 people. The largest city in the metro area is Oxnard, California, with a population of over 200,000 people.
