Pernell Karl "P. K." Subban (born May 13, 1989 in Toronto, Ontario), is a Canadian major junior ice hockey defenceman currently playing for the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Subban was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round, 43rd overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He is a two-time gold medal winner with Team Canada at the World Junior Championships.

Playing career
Subban began his OHL career with the Belleville Bulls in 2005–06, recording 12 points in a 52-game rookie campaign. The following season, his NHL draft year, in 2006–07, he improved to 56 points in 68 games. In the off-season, he was drafted 43rd overall, in the second round, by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Subban recorded a 46-point campaign in 2007–08, before adding 23 points and matching his regular season goals total of 8 in the post-season. He helped Belleville to the J. Ross Robertson Cup Finals against the Kitchener Rangers, where they lost the OHL title in seven games. Following a junior career high 76 points in 2008–09, Subban was signed to a three-year, entry-level contract by the Canadiens.[1]

Subban captured his first gold medal with Team Canada at the 2008 World Junior Championships, where Canada defeated Sweden in overtime of the gold medal game. In 2009, Subban was named to the team for a second straight year, along with fellow returnees John Tavares, Zach Boychuk and Thomas Hickey. He helped Canada to its fifth straight gold medal and second consecutive gold medal win against Sweden in the final. With 3 goals and 6 assists, Subban was selected to the Tournament All-Star Team along with tournament MVP and close friend John Tavares.
