Biography
Hungarian director Pál Gábor earned international acclaim for his political drama Angi Vera (1978); it remains his best-known film. A native of Budapest, Gábor earned a diploma from the faculty of arts at Lorand Eotvos Scientific University in 1955; Gábor taught at the school for a year following graduation. He later studied film direction at the Academy of Theatrea and Film Art, graduating in 1961. Gábor worked at the Bela Balazs Studio and made several short films. He spent a few years as an assistant director before making his film debut in 1968 with Tiltott Terulet/Forbidden Ground.
