Representing the Canadian perspective on commercial dance music, Nettwerk America's P.U.R.E. Dance, Vol. 1 compiles the most popular club tracks from 2002 onto a single disc. The track listing reads like a year-end best-of countdown: Green Velvet's "La la Land," Moby's "We Are All Made of Stars," Brancaccio & Aisher's "It's Gonna Be...(A Lovely Day)," Kosheen's "Hide U," Zero 7's "Destiny," iio's "Rapture," and so on. Furthermore, all of these chart-toppers are featured in their most well-known remixed form. For example, you get Danny Tenaglia's mix of Depeche Mode's "I Feel Loved," Deep Dish's mix of Dido's "Thank You," Ian Van Dahl's mix of Conjure One's "Sleep," and so on. Some of these inclusions are a bit dated, often a year or two old rather than cutting-edge new, yet none sound dated in the context of this seamless mix, which emphasizes the tracks themselves rather than the whims of a given DJ. As such, P.U.R.E.
