(also the Pamirs)

Mountain system of central Asia, centered in Tajikistan and extending into Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and W China. The highest peak in the Pamirs, Communism Peak in Tajikistan, rises to 24,590 ft./7,495 m.
