PAJ, originally Performing Arts Journal, is a U.S. triannual journal founded in 1976 by Bonnie Marranca and Gautam Dasgupta. Originally a theater journal, it expanded to include dance, the visual arts, film, videography, and cultural politics. It has taken a particular interest in avant-garde theater artists such as Robert Wilson, Maria Irene Fornes, and Theodora Skipitares. Always emphasizing the U.S. avant-garde scene, PAJ began to allot more coverage to Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
