Olympic history (summary)
Summer Games

Athletes from the Palestinian territories, represented by the Palestine Olympic Committee and competing as Palestine, participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

The Palestine Olympic Committee listed Sofia Sakorafa, a Greek-born former javelin world record holder who had recently obtained Palestinian citizenship, as part of its delegation.[1] The International Olympic Committee, however, barred Sakorafa from competing,[2] due to her failing to meet the qualifying standard.[3]
