Colombia has about 12,000 Palestinians.[1] Most are descendants of refugees from the 1948 war. Most have settled in Bogotá, and other Islamic centers around the country. Some groups are also from the Arab diaspora (Lebanon and Syria).[citation needed] Most of them are Muslims, while some are Roman Catholic.[citation needed]
