Palgrave Macmillan

Palgrave Macmillan Ltd. is an international academic publishing company, headquartered in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England, United Kingdom.[1] It was created in 2000 when the American St. Martin's Press Scholarly and Reference and the British Macmillan Publishers united their worldwide academic publishing operations. Both Macmillan and St. Martin's Press are owned by the German publishing company Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck, based in Stuttgart.

The company was known as simply Palgrave until 2002, but has since been known as Palgrave Macmillan and Palgrave for short.

Palgrave is named after classical historian Sir Francis Palgrave and several of his descendants, who were closely tied with the Macmillan company since the 19th century.
