Palm, once a leading provider of handheld computers, now develops and markets Internet-enabled smartphones and software. The company's product line encompasses the Pre, Pixi, and Veer wireless devices, which use Palm's webOS mobile software. webOS is designed to wirelessly access the Web and take advantage of the phones' touchscreen interface. The company sells directly and through partnerships with such wireless carriers as AT&T, Sprint Nextel, and Verizon Wireless, as well as other distributors and retailers. While its products are sold globally, the majority of its revenue is generated in the US. In 2010 Palm was acquired by top global computer and IT services company Hewlett-Packard (HP) for about $1.2 billion.
