Palomita Blanca

Plot

This film, based on a novel by Enrique Lefourcade tells a simple story about a rich man and a poor girl who wind up becoming romantic partners in the context of the turbulent times before and during the accession of Salvador Allende to power in Chile. Unfortunately, though the story is apolitical, the film fell afoul of the censors of the military dictatorship which overthrew Allende in 1973, and it was never shown. The director re-edited it in 1990, and it became only the third of his over fifty films to receive a showing in his native Chile. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
