Construction

Paper shipping pallets come in corrugated fiberboard, partial wood decks or engineered with laminated paperboard. Some are made of paperboard composite honeycomb.

Advantages of paper pallets include:

Lighter weight than wood or steel
Disposable
Recyclable
Very flexible to adapt to special transport needs
Meet Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) requirements
Meet international regulations on trade (ISPM)

Disadvantages of paper pallets include:

Susceptible to moisture
Lack stiffness compared to most other pallet materials

History

It is believed that the first American designer and manufacturer of paper pallets was Innovative Enterprises, Inc. then of St. Louis, Missouri. In 1992, Innovative Enterprises moved operations to Washington, Missouri. There they continue to provide paper pallet solutions for major manufacturers across the Midwest United States.
