Paper Mate is a registered of Sanford L.P., a Newell Rubbermaid company which produces writing products. Among their offerings is the PhD multi pen/pencil/stylus, which is endorsed by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) for the reduced writing fatigue produced by its grip to the hand.[1] A majority, if not all, of their pencils are made in the USA.[citation needed] The most popular mechanical lead pencil is the Clearpoint.[citation needed] They also manufacture Pink Pearl erasers.

Retired and vintage pens

The 98 Pen was so named as it retailed at 98 cents in the stores. The ballpoint pen was supplied with a standard refill, but this could be replaced with a jumbo refill. (The jumbo refill was discontinued several years ago). The "regular" Paper Mate pen, the lowest priced pen, with a solid-coloured barrel and cap and the "Write Bros." pen, with a white barrel and coloured cap have been merged into each other as of 2008. Now, the "regular" Paper Mate pen also carries the name "Paper Mate Write Bros.".
