Paschal de L′Estocart
( b Noyon, ?1539; d after 1584). French composer. He visited Italy several times and was variously at Basle, Nancy and Evreux. An austere, essentially Huguenot composer, yet thoroughly italianate, he published five books of motets, psalms and other religious pieces in Geneva (1582-3). A hallmark of his style is his daring harmony.
