Modern dance in one act with choreography by Humphrey, music by Bach, set by Arch Lauterer, and costumes by P. Lawrence. Premiered 5 Aug. 1938 by the Humphrey-Weidman Dance Company at the Armory in Bennington, Vermont, with Humphrey and Weidman. A work for twelve company members and eleven apprentices, it was described by Humphrey as ‘an abstraction with dramatic overtones…inspired by the need for love, tolerance and nobility’.
