pastiche

(Fr.). Imitation. Not the same as pasticcio, being a work deliberately written in the style of another period or manner, e.g. Prokofiev's Classical Symphony and Stravinsky's Pulcinella. Although pastiche has a meaning as 'medley', it is invariably applied musically in the sense outlined above.
