Biography

Mexican singer/actress Patricia Manterola (born Patricia Manterola Carrion) debuted in show business at the age of nine while playing a role in the musical Ana, la Huerfanita (Annie). Soon after, she had the opportunity to participate in a record sponsored by a TV show called Juguemos a Cantar. The promising young artist attended singing and dancing classes before meeting local producer Luis de Llano, who was assembling a new outfit called Garibaldi. In addition to joining the Latin pop vocal group, Manterola made her cinematographic debut with ¿Dónde Quedó La Bolita? working with actor Sergio Jiménez. Her solo career began in 1994 after a Garibaldi live performance in Acapulco and with the release of Hambre de Amor. With the successful soap opera Acapulco, Cuerpo y Alma, the Latin version of Charlie's Angels produced by Sony/Telemundo, the TV series Hazard in Hollywood, and the movies City of Lost Souls and Carman: The Champion, Manterola achieved her major goals in the acting field. Patricia Manterola (born Bertha Patricia Manterola Carrión, April 23, 1972) is a Mexican singer, model, fashion designer, and actress, born in Mexico City.[1][2][3]

She has appeared in HBO's Arli$$, a show about a sports agency. In the episode titled "Setting Precedent", she plays a lesbian tennis star and has a heated girl-on-girl kiss. She also starred in Telemundo's Spanish version of the 70s TV show Charlie's Angels, which aired for a brief time in the late 90s. Her movies are: Carman: The Champion (2001), The City of Lost Souls (2000), The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood (2000), and a Dominican film Mi Novia esta de Madre (2007) directed by Archie Lopez.

Garibaldi was a Mexican group of young men and women, wearing a very free version of the traditional charro costume while singing modern version of traditional songs, causing some controversy. The name Garibaldi comes from Plaza Garibaldi in Mexico City where mariachi bands can be found.
