Biography

Patricia Wilder was one of those people who seemed to lead a charmed life. A vivacious beauty, Wilder was still a teenager when she moved from the South to New York City, in 1934. After only one day in the Big Apple, the Georgia peach had a job as a showgirl at the Palace Theatre working on stage with Bob Hope. Wilder remained in close alliance with Hope for several years, working with him on the radio and in feature films like Walking on Air (1936), The Big Broadcast of '38 (1937), and Little Miss Broadway (1938). She was never really a star, but she was quite famous as a social gadfly in New York. Her decadent antics are said to have inspired Truman Capote's creation of Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's. In late 1949, Wilder became the wife of Prince Fritz Alexander Hohenlohe and for the rest of her life was known as Princess Alexander Hohenlohe. The couple remained married until the prince died in 1984. The ever-energetic princess moved to Marabella, Spain, and spent most of the rest of her life jet-setting around the world. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
