Paul Andreu

(1938– )

French architect. He designed the layout of Charles de Gaulle airport, Paris, and was responsible for the detailed design of the circular Terminal 1 (1969–74), the interior of which perhaps lacks serenity. He also designed additions to the terminal, including Terminal 2E, part of which collapsed in May 2004. He worked with Spreckelsen on La Grande Arche de la Défense, Paris (1986–9). Most of his output was for airports, notably that in Manila (Philippines). He designed the French terminal of the Channel Tunnel.
