Biography

Percussionist Paul Evans has spent most of his music career to date in Pennsylvania, with a series of appearances on recordings by the River City Brass Band. Likewise for his early musical training; he graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelor's degree in jazz performance, then went on in 1988 to earn a Masters in music at Temple University, studying privately there with Alan Able of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Besides his role as a section percussionist in the River City Brass Band of Pittsburgh, Evans freelances and lectures in the fine art of tympani-thumping at Carnegie Mellon University. The percussionist is featured on tour with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and works with a youth brass band. He should not be confused with the composer of hits such as "Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue." ~ Eugene Chadbourne, Rovi
