Paul Mullen (born 6 September 1982, Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear) is an English musician, most notable recognized for being the primary vocalist and guitarist with Yourcodenameis:milo who went on hiatus in 2007, and the joint lead vocalist, guitarist and synthesizer player for The Automatic from 2007 onwards. He lived in Cardiff after joining The Automatic, he then formed Young Legionnaire with Dean Pearson and Gordon Moakes Bloc Party and has recently joined Losers with former Cooper Temple Clause frontman Tom Bellamy and ex Oceansize member Eddy Temple Morris.

Musical career
Yourcodenameis:milo (2002–2007)
YCNI:M formed in 2002 Washington, Tyne and Wear with Mullen providing vocals, guitar and synthesizers, during the band's run. They released two albums, Ignoto and They Came from the Sun, as well as their breakthrough mini-album All Roads to Fault and collaboration album Print Is Dead Vol 1 which featured artists such as Gordon Moakes of Bloc Party, Tom Vek, Lethal Bizzle, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly and The Automatic.[1]
On 21 August 2007, YCNI:M announced that they would go on indefinite hiatus, stating "We are all exceptionally proud of all we have achieved as a band, but feel it is time to move on and explore new paths both musical and non- musical"[2]
The Automatic (2007–present)
On 19 October 2007, it was announced that Mullen would join The Automatic as a second guitarist.[3] Mullenh was known by the band from their collaboration between YCNI:M and The Automatic with Print Is Dead Vol 1 track "The Trapeze Artist", and a neutral friend had suggested Mullen as he was 'out of work' after the YCNI:M split. Original members Frost, Iwan and Rob had already wrote a number of tracks for a second album, and with Mullen joining the first track to be written as a group was "This Ship", and in January 2008 the band headed to America to record the album This Is a Fix.
It featured lead and backing vocals from Mullen, with tracks such as "This Is a Fix" and "Magazines" featuring Mullen's lead vocals. The band's third album Tear the Signs Down expanded upon Mullen's vocal duties with him taking lead in "High Time" and "Run & Hide".[4]
Other projects
In 2008 Mullen worked with the Dartford based band, Codes In The Clouds, on the track "Don't Awash In This Digital Landscape", providing vocals over the original version, which was purely instrumental.[5] In December 2009, Mullen worked with Bloc Party bassist Gordon Moakes and William Bowerman; drummer of La Roux in London on a new side project, with The Automatic and La Roux taking time off over Christmas and Bloc Party on hiatus. The group were revealed to be going under the name "Young Legionnaire" in January 2009.[6]
Additionally, Mullen is known to be part of a band known as LOSERSUK, along with ex-members of Oceansize, Cooper Temple Clause and DJ Eddy TM. Mullen provides vocals on a track called Half Built House.[7]
Personal life
Mullen has a black and white Boston Terrier called Austin, he is also fan of Sunderland A.F.C., however since moving to Cardiff with The Automatic has been unable to use his season pass. He fills his spare time maintaining a paper based hard copy of the internet.[8]
