Biography

Austin, TX-based instrumental post-rock quartet Paul Newman formed in late 1995, named not in honor of the Hollywood icon but rather bassist Paul A. Newman; guitarist Craig McCaffrey and drummer Anthony Nozero completed the original lineup, which expanded to a four-piece with the addition of second bassist Eddie Robert in mid-1996. The following spring Paul Newman issued their debut seven-inch "...Please Wait During the Silence" on the Twistworthy label before signing to Trance Syndicate to release the full-length Frames per Second in early 1998. Only Love Can Break Your Heart followed later that same year, but after Trance Syndicate closed shop, the group moved to the My Pal God imprint for 2000's Machine Is Not Broken. Nozero concurrently played in Drums and Tuba. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
