Pavetta

An African plant genus in the family Rubiaceae; plants contain an unidentified toxin which causes myocarditis and sudden death due to acute heart failure. The condition is also known as gousiekte. Includes P. harbori, P. schumanniana. Called also pavettabossie, tonnabossie, gousiekte tree, poisonous bride's bush.
