Review

Peace Through Music: 20th Anniversary Collection is a sampler of the artists and sounds of the Soundings of the Planet label, most of it themed around nature, spirituality and/or multiculturalism. The styles run the gamut from gypsy guitar music (Sunyata), Native American chant (Cha-das-ska-dum Which-ta-lum) and Indian tabla drumming (Daniel Paul) to ethereal Enya-esque vocals (Lorellei), exploratory guitar instrumentals (Scott Huckabay) and blissful flute/harp/keyboard tracks (Dean Evenson, Tom Barabas). But the biggest name here isn't known as a musician -- the Dalai Lama makes an appearance with the Tibetan chant "Green Tara Mantra," set to music by Dean Evenson. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi
