Peacemakers is an American crime fiction television series about forensic science in the Old West. It was filmed in Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. The series premiered July 30, 2003, on the USA Network.[1] The show was cancelled after one season of nine episodes.

Plot

This very interesting show is basically like an old west CSI. Dealing with the use of forensics in the 1880s. The show centers around Deputy United States Marshall Jared Stone played by Tom Berenger and his colleague private detective Larimer Finch played by Peter O'Meara. Amy Carlson plays Katie Owen also one of the central characters, is the town's undertaker/mortician. They all live in the town of Silver City, Colorado. Silver City is a silver boom town embracing new technologies. Besides having an active railroad depot and telegraph office, Silver City has a telephone exchange with long distance service to Denver and is beginning to install electic lights.

Marshall Stone in a veteran of the Union Army and decorated soldier of the Civil War as well as a former gunfighter. He is an experienced and intelligent western lawman who is deadly with firearms. Stone is the assigned federal marshall for the area with his office located in Silver City. He carries a Colt Single-Action Army short barreled revolver in a skeleton shoulder holster under his suit coat. Marshall Stone is equally accurate with a Winchester rifle and is a skilled tracker. Detective Finch is an experienced criminalogist and trained forensic scientist. Finch is a graduate of Yale University who did post graduate studies at Cambridge University and interned at Scotland Yard in Great Britain. Finch is a former operative of the Pinkerton Detective Agency who came to Silver City to solve a murder which took place in a private railway car on the tracks at the city rail depot. He decided to resign from Pinkerton and stay in Silver City when he was going to be assigned to a labor strike breaking job by the agency. Finch's parents were missionaries in China where Finch learned to speak Chinese and also studied Chinese martial arts, specifically hand to hand fighting. Finch carries a throwing knife concealed in a sheath under his shirt behind his neck. He also carries a Smith and Wesson Schofield revolver in a leather shoulder holster. He is skilled with both weapons. Finch employs fingerprints, ballistics, photography, chemistry and other scientific analysis to aid Marshall Stone in solving crimes. Katie Owen is a skilled mortician who attended medical school. But she had to leave school and return home when her parents where killed in an accident in order to care for her younger sister and run the funeral home started by her father. Her surgical skills, knowledge of anatomy and pathology aid Stone and Finch who consider Katie to be a friend and ally.
