An area of fighting that, together with the Wheatfield and Devil's Den, comprised the Union left flank at Gettysburg (1863), during the Civil War. During the second day of the battle, Confederate Lt. Gen. James Longstreet managed to capture the Peach Orchard from Union Maj. Gen. Daniel Sickles, who retreated to Cemetery Ridge. Union troops won victory at Gettysburg the following day.
